MT Women's XC finish 21st at South Regional

Kiprono finishes a team-best 55th

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Middle Tennessee women's cross country team battled on the 6K Harry Pritchett Running Course to finish 21st out of 27 teams that completed the South NCAA Regional Friday Morning.

Florida State finished with 35 points, winning the regional to guarantee a spot in the NCAA Championship Nov. 23 at Terre Haute, Ind. The Seminoles placed four runners in the top-5 and its fifth runner finished 17th. Vanderbilt placed second with a team score of 116 to also advance to the NCAA Championship.

The Blue Raiders finished with a team score of 562, just behind Georgia State's 544. As a team, MT had a total time of 1:52:41.98, with an average individual time of 22:32.40.

Jackline Kiprono finished the best for Middle Tennessee, placing 55th with a time of 21:25.24. Following Kiprono, Julia Kitevski ran the course in 21:51.27 for 85th. Kiprono and Kitevski were the only two MT runners to finish under 22 minutes.

Autumn Gipson placed 150th with an average mile of 6:20.9 and a total time of 23:03.91. Fellow senior, Tressanique Hampton finished just three spots behind Gipson in 153rd place, finishing the course in 23:08.31.

Rounding out the scoring for Middle Tennessee was Rachel Islam. She finished 156th, completing the course in 23:13.25.

The Blue Raiders had one more runner at the regional, Hannah Northam. She ran the course in 25:20.68 for 187th.
