KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Middle Tennessee soccer team was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) 2012-13 College Team Academic Award winners list as announced by the organization Thursday.

This marks the 12th consecutive year the Blue Raiders have been honored with the team academic award. MT boasts a 3.62 cumulative grade point average and had four Blue Raiders earn Conference USA All-Academic Team honors a few weeks ago. The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that are successful not only on the field, but also in the classroom.

"We place a lot of emphasis on the academic success of our student-athletes, so it's great to have won this award for the 12th consecutive year," said MT head coach Aston Rhoden. "I must comment the work of our SAEC (Student-Athlete Enhancement Center), my staff and of course our players for their role in achieving this prestigious award."

A total of 863 college soccer teams, including 593 women's programs in NCAA Divisions I, II and III, posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 20012-13 academic year. MT's team GPA of 3.62 ranks 12th among women's team award recipients this year, putting the Blue Raiders in the top .02-percent. Among the Division I teams that earned the NSCAA Academic Award, Middle Tennessee has the sixth highest, putting MT in the top .01-percent.
