MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's Ebony Rowe garnered Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors from the Tennessee Sportswriters Association (TSWA) for the second straight week, recording 29 points and 20 rebounds in the Blue Raiders' only game of the week at Austin Peay last Wednesday, Dec. 4.
The Lexington, Ky., native became the first Middle Tennessee player with a 20-20 performance since Jennifer McFall achieved the feat on December 28, 1984. It was just the fifth time a Blue Raider player registered at least 20 points and 20 rebounds in a game in school history.
Rowe connected on 13-of-25 shots and grabbed 13 defensive rebounds in the contest, giving her 568 in her career, a new school record. She moved up to sixth on the all-time scoring list with 1,907 points, 241 behind all-time leader Kim Webb. The senior forward is averaging 23.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in eight games this season.
Rowe also earned TSWA weekly accolades last week. The honor is the ninth TSWA weekly honor for Rowe. The TSWA began weekly Player of the Week awards last year. Middle Tennessee returns to action this Thursday with an 11 a.m. contest against Kennesaw State. Thursday's game is the second Murfreesboro City Schools Education Day game.
