MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee women's basketball entered the Associated Press Top 25 poll for the first time since 2009 on Monday. The Blue Raiders, who have won 16 consecutive games, were ranked 25th in today's poll.
The AP ranking is the first for the Blue Raiders since appearing as 24th in the poll on Nov. 16, 2009. Monday's ranking marks the 22nd time in program history that the Blue Raiders have sat in the AP poll. The Associated Press poll consists of writers and media pundits from across the country.
The last time a Conference USA women's basketball team was ranked in the AP Top 25 was during the 2010-11 season when Houston appeared for two weeks. In 2007-08, UTEP appeared in the AP polls for six weeks.
MT's 16-game winning streak is tied for fourth nationally. Middle Tennessee's scheduled game at Southern Miss on Jan. 29 has been postponed due to the threat of potential inclement weather. The game has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. MT's next game will be at Tulsa on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 12:30 p.m.
