Blue Raiders fall to Samford, 6-1

William claims lone point for Middle Tennessee

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Middle Tennessee fell to Samford, 6-1, on Friday evening inside the Samford Tennis Center.

The Blue Raiders claimed one singles point, while falling to 1-1 on the season. The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 with the victory.

Tiffany William claimed the only point for the Blue Raiders with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Kristin Lewis. In the No. 2 spot, Jesse Grace fell to 72nd ranked Stephanie N'tcha, 6-2, 6-1. In the third spot, Moraes fell 6-4, 7-5, 1-0 (5) to Yasmeen Ebada.

Flavia Nagayama fell 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (2) to Jessica Northcutt, while Irina Constantinide dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision to Emily Mallory. In the six spot, Samford's Lauren Caballero won 6-1, 6-1 over freshman Sarah Sediri.

In doubles action, Lewis/Mallory won 6-4 over William Grace in the top spot. In the No. 2 slot, N'tcha combined with Carita Moolman claimed a 6-4 win over Moraes/Constantinide. In the third spot, Ebada/Northcutt defeated Nagayama/Sediri, 6-1.

The Blue Raiders return to action Saturday at 1 p.m. in a neutral site matchup against Conference USA foe UAB.
