IRVING, Texas - After recording back-to-back double-doubles in a pair of Middle Tennessee men's basketball wins last week, senior forward Shawn Jones picked up Conference USA Player of the Week honors from the league office and College Sports Madness.

This marks Jones' second C-USA weekly award and the second for the Blue Raiders this season as the big man collected the honor Dec. 16. Last week, Jones averaged a double-double of 21.0 points per game and 10.5 rebounds a contest as MT recorded a pair of home wins over East Carolina and Old Dominion.

Against ECU Jan. 30, he put up a game-high 22 points and pulled down a game-best 11 rebounds, while swatting five blocked shots. Jones then posted his eighth double-double of the season and 12th of his career against ODU Feb. 1 with 20 points and 10 boards, marking his sixth 20-point performance of the season.

Jones helped MT jump to 5-2 in C-USA play, winning its third-straight conference game. The Blue Raiders went 2-0 on the week, beating the Pirates 84-67 and then knocking off the Monarchs 64-48.

Middle Tennessee returns to action Thursday, Feb. 6, traveling to Florida Atlantic for a 6 p.m. tip-off in C-USA action.
