Middle Tennessee women's tennis returns home for a pair of matches against in-state foes this weekend. The Raiders welcome Austin Peay on Friday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m., while hosting Lipscomb on Sunday at 11 a.m. Both matches are scheduled to be played at Nashboro Village.
The Raiders (2-1) are coming off a 5-2 victory against Conference USA foe UAB. Middle Tennessee junior Tiffany William looks to remain unbeaten in singles action. The Auburn Montgomery transfer has posted three singles wins, all at the No. 1 position. Junior Nayara Moraes boasts a 2-1 record for the Raiders at the No. 3 position this season.
"We are looking forward to hosting in-state opponents in Austin Peay and Lipscomb this weekend," said head coach Shelley Godwin. "At this point of the season our focus is that we put ourselves in a position to be successful on each court and this will be our goal over the weekend."
MT and Austin Peay meet for the 34th time on Saturday with the Blue Raiders holding a commanding 30-3 advantage. Last season, MT won 6-1 over the Lady Govs in Clarksville. APSU is 0-2 this season with losses to Northern Kentucky and Chattanooga.
Lipscomb and the Blue Raiders faceoff for the 11th time on Sunday morning. The Raiders have won nine consecutive meetings, which includes a 7-0 shutout over the Bison last year. This season, LU is off to a 3-1 start with wins over UT Martin, Belmont and Evansville. The only defeat this season was a 7-0 shutout loss at Chattanooga.
