NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee women's tennis collected its second consecutive victory with a dominant 6-1 victory over Austin Peay on Friday inside Nashboro Village.

The Blue Raiders (3-1) easily claimed all three doubles points, while winning five of possible six singles matches. Friday's win gave MT a 2-0 mark at home. Austin Peay falls to 0-3 for the year.

In singles action, the No. 1 tandem of Tiffany William and Jesse Grace completed a 6-0 shutout over the Lady Govs' Andra Cornea and Ornella Di Salvo. MT quickly claimed the doubles point when the No. 2 duo of Irina Constantinide and Nayara Moraes defeated APSU's Vanessea Tavares and Isabela Jovanovic, 6-2. In the third doubles match, MT's Sarah Sediri/Flavia Nagayama claimed a 6-2 victory over the Govs' Jovana Karac/Hannah Tatlock.

In singles action, Nagayama claimed a 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Karac at the No. 4 spot to put the Blue Raiders up by two. The junior William improved her singles record to 4-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 straight-set win over Austin Peay's Cornea.

Middle Tennessee clinched the match when the junior Moraes won 6-4, 6-2 over Tavares at the third court. Tennessee transfer Grace, who played No. 2 singles, won 6-2, 6-4 over Di Salvo. Meanwhile at the fifth court, Constantinide grabbed her second victory this season when she handily defeated Jovanovic, 6-0, 6-0.

The Lady Govs claimed their lone point at the No. 6 position when Hannah Tatlock defeated Sarah Sediri, 3-6, 6-3, 10-2.

"I thought we did a nice job today of focusing in mentally to take care of every court," said head coach Shelley Godwin. "We need to use the momentum gained from today's match on Sunday against Lipscomb."

The Blue Raiders look to extend their win streak to three matches when the Lipscomb Bison visit Nashboro Village on Sunday, Feb. 9. First serve is set for 11 a.m. Live results and updates will be available at GoBlueRaiders.com and on Twitter by following @MT_WomensTennis.
