NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee women's tennis collected its first shutout of the season and its third consecutive win with a 7-0 sweep over Lipscomb.

Middle Tennessee (4-1) dominated all facets of the match to collect a shutout for the first time since sweeping Butler on Feb. 15, 2013. Lipscomb fell to 4-2 on the season, snapping a two-game win streak.

"This was a good all-around effort from the team," said head coach Shelley Godwin. "We did a good job of coming out ready to take care of business. We will need to use the confidence we gained this weekend as we hit the road to take on ETSU and Winthrop."

For the second consecutive match, the Blue Raiders swept all three doubles matches. MT's No. 3 tandem of Flavia Nagayama and Sarah Sediri knocked off Lorena Djuknic and Sierra Troxel, 6-2. The top Blue Raider duo of Tiffany William/Jesse Grace won 6-1 over LU's Deahna Welcher/Jenny Borck to claim the doubles point.

At the second court, Middle Tennessee veterans Nayara Moraes and Irina Constantinide completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 victory over the Lady Bisons' Melissa Kromer/Laura Kent.

In singles action, William kept her unbeaten streak alive with a 6-2, 6-1 straight-set win over Welcher at the first court. The senior Nagayama won with relative ease at Court No. 4, 6-0, 6-1 over Borck. MT claimed the match when Moraes won 6-2, 6-2 over LU's Kromer. The junior from Brazil is 4-1 on the season.

Grace came back from a 5-3 deficit in the first set to win 7-6 (9-7) over Kromer. The junior from South Africa won the second set, 6-1 to give the Raiders a five-point edge.

At the fifth singles court, Constantinide collected a 6-4, 6-2 win over Djuknic. Sediri, a freshman from Montreal, Quebec, won her first collegiate singles point with a 7-5, 1-6, 10-6 victory against Lipscomb's Troxel.

The Blue Raiders hit the road again with a visit to ETSU on Feb. 14 and a match against Winthrop on Feb 15.
