Raiders travel to VCU for Friday matinee

No. 56 MT, No. 35 VCU square off in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team continues a stretch of four matches in eight days when the Blue Raiders travel to Richmond, Va. for a Friday matinee against No. 35 VCU.

MT, currently ranked No. 56 in the nation, looks to get back on track after falling on Sunday at No. 20 Vanderbilt. Sophomore Victor Cornea picked up a win at No. 3 singles, while junior Ettore Zito battled the 10th-ranked player in the nation to a third-set tiebreak.

Friday is the fifth-straight road match for the Blue Raiders, with all five against nationally-ranked opponents. Coincidentally, all five have also been in a state capital: Two in Columbus, Ohio, plus one each in Columbia, S.C., Nashville and now Richmond.

The Rams have already played 10 matches to this point in the season, sporting a 7-3 record.

The Blue Raiders return to home action on Sunday with a pair of matches at Nashboro Village. MT will host No. 30 Northwestern at 10 a.m. before facing Tennessee State at 6 p.m.
