ORLANDO, Fla. - Samantha Nieves doubled down the right field line to give Middle Tennessee (3-6) its first walk-off victory of the season, beating Florida A&M (1-7) 6-5 to end the second day of the UCF/Holiday Inn Classic.

Coming out of the bottom of the fourth inning, the Blue Raiders had made a pitching change to Shelby Stinnett half way through the third and held the 4-2 advantage over FAMU. Neither team put a run on the board in the fifth or the sixth, with Stinnett only facing seven batters over the two innings.

In the top of the seventh, MT needed only three outs to complete the day's sweep. Stinnett fanned the opening batter, but then allowed singles to FAMU's Alyssa Weaver and Brielle Gordon. Florida A&M's Amber Fullwood, sliced a triple to left center, plating both runners and leaving FAMU with one out and a runner on third. With the game tied at 4-all, Kieifi Myrick hit a sacrifice fly to give the Rattlers the 5-4 lead, their first of the game.

Now with their backs against the wall, the Blue Raiders needed one run to force extras and two to have the walk-off victory. After one out, Mckena Miller and Kayla Toney hit singles to left field and center field, respectively. LaRi Mitchell ground out to the FAMU second baseman, which allowed Toney and Miller to advance. Nieves then laced a double down the right field line, producing the 6-5 walk-off victory.

Toney and Mitchell each tallied multiple-hit games, with Toney finishing 3-for-4 with one RBI and Mitchell going 2-for-4. Nieves accounted for three RBI, helping score the first run of the game on a sacrifice bunt.

Jordyn Fisherback received the start against the Rattlers and pitched 3.1 innings, while allowing two runs with one earned. Stinnett received her first win of the season after closing the final 3.2 innings, striking out four while giving up three earned runs.

Middle Tennessee closes the tournament tomorrow against Florida A&M at 10:30 a.m. (CT).
