MT hosts No. 6 Vanderbilt Wednesday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee baseball team (4-6) hosts No. 6 Vanderbilt (10-2) at Reese Smith, Jr. Field on Wednesday at 6 p.m. to conclude an eight-game homestand.
The Blue Raiders dropped two of three to Kent State last weekend despite outscoring the Golden Flashes 21-15 in the series. MT scored a season-high 12 runs in Friday's win over Kent State, led by junior LF Jared Allen, who had five RBI, including a three-run homer.
Senior LHP Zac Curtis had a career-high 10 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings Friday, picking up his second win of the year.
Senior CF Ryan Stephens homered twice on the weekend, hitting solo homers on both Saturday and Sunday. Junior IF/C Jake Ingold was used as a pinch-hitter for the first time as a Blue Raider on Sunday, delivering a two-run single in MT's comeback attempt.
Vanderbilt enters its midweek play at 10-2 with a game to be played vs. Tennessee Tech on Tuesday night in Nashville. The Commodores' pitching has been their backbone in the early part of the season, recording a 1.50 ERA and 0.89 WHIP through their first 12 games.

2013: MT AND VANDY SPLIT SEASON SERIES
The Blue Raiders and Commodores split the season series in 2013, thanks to Middle Tennessee knocking off then-No. 2 Vanderbilt on March 20 at Reese Smith, Jr. Field by a 4-1 margin. The Commodores would return the favor in Nashville two weeks later with a 12-3 victory over the Blue Raiders.
SETTING THE TABLE
Junior SS Dustin Delgado has reached base in all 10 games to begin 2014, while serving as the leadoff hitter in all of them. Delgado is hitting .303 with a .404 on-base percentage.
Senior 1B Trent Miller has been on base in 19 of 41 plate appearances to begin 2014. Miller has a .442 on-base percentage and team-high nine RBI.
NINE AT NINE
In eight games hitting ninth for the Blue Raiders, junior IF Austin Bryant has hit .423 with four RBI and five multi-hit games, including a three-hit showing vs. Tennessee Tech (Feb. 18).
The Blue Raiders entered last weekend with one home run through seven games, playing a Kent State team that had not allowed a long ball in its first seven contests. MT tallied three homers on the weekend, with senior CF Ryan Stephens hitting solo shots on both Saturday and Sunday after junior LF Jared Allen hit a three-run homer to left on Friday.
Junior LHP Nathan Foriest has made two appearances in 2014 of four or more innings pitched with one run or fewer allowed. Foriest surrendered one run on two hits in a four-inning start vs. Tennessee Tech on Feb. 18, before tossing 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief on Saturday against Kent State.
WALK THIS WAY
Senior OF Jake Ellison has drawn eight walks through 10 games, after getting on base on a walk just 12 times in 52 games in 2013. Ellison reached base four times via the free pass during the Feb. 15 doubleheader at Kennesaw State.

The Blue Raiders take to the road for the first time since Feb. 16 when Middle Tennessee plays its first Conference USA weekend at UAB. The Blue Raiders and Blazers will play Friday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m., and Sunday, March 9 at 1 p.m.
