MURRELLS INLET, SC - The Middle Tennessee men's golf team will compete in the 2014 General Hackler Championship on Monday and Tuesday for their second tournament of the young spring season. The event will take place at TPC Myrtle Beach, which is a par 72, 6,950-yard course designed by Tom Fazio and Lanny Wadkins.

The 12-team field consists of nine teams ranked in the top 100, including five who participated in last year's NCAA Regionals. The field will be made up of host Coastal Carolina, Duke, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Iowa State, Kent State, Lamar, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, North Carolina, Northern Illinois, and UNC Wilmington.

Coming off an impressive fifth place finish at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, the Blue Raiders will go with juniors Brett Patterson, Payne Denman, and Andrew Cho, along with seniors Jordan Jennings and Lucas Armstrong. Patterson currently leads the team with a 73.3 stroke average followed closely by Denman's 73.9.

"We have had some good practice sessions and can't wait to get back into tournament play, said Head Coach Whit Turnbow. "We played well in Mobile and grabbed some momentum but every player knows we can do better. It will be a great challenge but we are excited to tee it up."

The team will have a practice round today before going off on a shotgun start Monday at 9 AM EST. The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
