Women's Tennis shuts down Jackson State for sixth win

William/Grace improve to 6-3 in doubles play

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee women's tennis collected its third sweep of the year with a 7-0 shutout of Jackson State on Friday at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Complex.

The Blue Raiders easily won both doubles matches before collecting a straight sweep in each of the singles contest. Middle Tennessee improves to 6-3 overall, while Jackson State fell to 4-9.

The top doubles duo of Tiffany William and Jesse Grace moved their record to 6-3 with a 6-1 defeat of Angie Condorelli and Akshata Ananth. The Raiders claimed the doubles point at Court 3 when Flavia Nagayama/Sarah Sediri picked up a 6-3 decision over Harshini Reddy/Kesica Jayapalan.

In singles action, William improved her singles mark to 9-0, defeating Condorelli, 6-2, 6-0, in the top spot. Junior Nayara Moraes came out victorious at the third spot, knocking off Ananth, 6-0, 6-0.

Grace helped the Blue Raiders claim victory as she upended Ana Zviahinsteva (6-1, 6-2). At the fourth court, Nagayama won 6-1, 6-0 against Reddy. Sophomore Irina Constantinide knocked off Julie Angermann, 6-2, 6-3. Freshman Sarah Sediri earned her second singles victory this season, defeating Kesica Jayapalan, 7-5, 6-1.

Middle Tennessee takes a week long hiatus to South Florida beginning on Monday. MT plays Boston University in a neutral site match in Miami set for a 9 a.m. CT first serve.
