BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Middle Tennessee baseball team fell to UAB, 2-0, on Sunday at Regions Field. In the defeat, the Blue Raiders fall to 5-9 and 1-2 in C-USA, while the Blazers improve to 13-3 and 2-1 in conference action.

Junior LHP Johnathan Frebis pitched an eight-inning complete game in a losing effort, holding UAB to two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six. UAB scored the only runs of the contest with two in the bottom of the third on an RBI double and subsequent single. Frebis falls to 0-3 on the year.

The Raiders had five hits in the game, all on singles. Senior 1B Trent Miller had two of the five hits for Middle Tennessee.

MT rallied in the ninth, putting two aboard with two out after a leadoff infield single by junior SS Dustin Delgado was erased on a double play. Miller singled to left, and advanced to second when junior LF Jared Allen was hit by a pitch. The Raiders were unable to bring the runners home however, as the fourth UAB pitcher of the inning in Cory Eller was able to close out the game and series for the Blazers.

Alex Luna picked up the win for UAB, while Eller earned the save.

The Blue Raiders return to action Tuesday when they host Tennessee at Reese Smith, Jr. Field at 6 p.m.
