MT returns to action at FAU on Friday

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - Middle Tennessee dropped a 9-0 decision to Barry University on Wednesday.

Barry (14-0), which ranks third nationally at the NCAA Division II level, gave the Blue Raiders (6-5) their first shutout loss of the year.

In doubles action, Anaeve Pain and Kimmy Twelker upended MT's Jesse Grace and Tiffany William, 8-6. The Raiders duo of Irina Constantinide/Nayara Moraes fell 8-4 at the No. 2 court. Meanwhile, Karina Goia and Cristina Valladares picked up an 8-5 decision over Sarah Sediri/Flavia Nagayama.

In singles play, No. 9 ranked Elisabeth Abanda defeated Nagayama, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Linda Fritschken won 6-4, 6-4 over Moraes at the second court. The junior William fell 6-4, 6-3 to Pain at the top slot, while Valladares blanked Constantinide (6-0, 6-0).

MT's Grace fell 6-2, 7-6 (5) to Blanka Szavay at Court No. 3 and Sediri lost 6-4, 6-1 to Akemi Maehama at the six spot.

Middle Tennessee returns to action on Friday against Conference USA foe Florida Atlantic. First serve is set for Noon CT.
