Raiders fall to Lipscomb, 9-3

NASHVILLE - The Middle Tennessee baseball team fell to Lipscomb, 9-3, on Tuesday night at Dugan Field in Nashville. In the defeat, the Blue Raiders fall to 8-11, while Lipscomb improves to 13-9.

Freshman Kaleb King had two hits for the Blue Raiders while scoring a run. Junior LF Jared Allen and junior 3B Jake Ingold each drove in a run for MT.

Lipscomb took control with an eight-run second inning, scoring seven of them with two outs.

The Blue Raiders chipped into the deficit with a three-run fifth. Allen brought home junior 2B Austin Bryant to break up the shutout on an RBI groundout before Ingold plated two more on a two-run single.

The Bisons would get one more in the seventh for the final 9-3 margin.

Junior LHP Nathan Foriest was charged with the loss in 1 2/3 innings of work. Jacob Knott earned the win in relief for Lipscomb. The Blue Raider pitching staff combined for 12 strikeouts.

Senior DH Jonathan Sisco, who has served primarily as a pitcher in his time in Murfreesboro, picked up his first Blue Raider hit in the game.

The Blue Raiders return to action Friday when they open a three-game Conference USA series in New Orleans at Tulane. Friday's first pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
