MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee softball team (6-23, 1-5 C-USA) hosts Louisiana Tech (9-19, 0-6 C-USA) for a three-game Conference USA series, starting action with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and concluding Sunday with a single-game at 1 p.m.

MT played a mid-week game against No. 3 Tennessee in Columbia, Tenn., March 18. The Blue Raiders narrowly lost to the Lady Vols, taking the 8-7 lead in the top of the seventh before Tennessee used a walk-off bases-loaded single to claim the 9-8 win.

Nina Dever notched five RBI on a three-run home run in the sixth and a seventh inning double that helped Middle Tennessee take its first lead of the game. Dever is third on the team with a .292 batting average, while totaling 26 hits with seven doubles and two home runs in 2014.

Laura Dukes scored the first run for Middle Tennessee against UT, hitting her second home run of the season in the fourth inning. Dukes' two-run shot cleared the left center field fence on a cold and windy day at Ridley Park, that saw numerous hits go foul or stay in play. She has a team-high .346 average, while starting all 29 games from behind the plate for Middle Tennessee and is second on the team with 14 RBI.

LA Tech comes to Murfreesboro Saturday after beating fellow Tennessee university, Belmont, 7-3 March 20. The Lady Techsters have an 0-6 record in C-USA play, losing a three-game series to UTSA March 8-9 and to UTEP March 15-16. Prior to its win at Belmont Thursday, LA Tech was on a nine-game losing streak.

Kristen Miles (.348), Tori Charters (.308) and Bianca Duran (.306) are the only Lady Techsters to have tallied a .300 batting average or better this season. Duran boasts a team-best 26 hits and eight doubles and is tied for third on the team with 14 RBI. Pauline Tufi and Hailey Winter have started all 28 games for LA Tech, with Tufi having a team-best 19 RBI.

Inside the circle for LA Tech, Duran has a 3-12 record with two complete games in 22 games started. She has a team-high 91.1 innings pitched, while Tufi has thrown 65.1 innings and has a 5-4 record with 56 strike outs.
