Blue Raiders have first full-pad workout
Third practice held in cold, windy conditionsMarch 25, 2014 · @MTAthletics
MURFREESBORO - Middle Tennessee donned full pads for the first time this spring during Tuesday's practice. The Blue Raiders felt like they were conducting a bowl practice as windy and cold conditions blanketed the practice complex. Wind gusts were around 15 MPH and temperatures in the mid-30s.
It marked the third of 15 practice sessions this spring for a team returning 49 lettermen and 13 starters.
"I thought we competed well today and played with a lot of energy," said Head Coach Rick Stockstill. "We did a good job of staying on our feet because we did not tackle to the ground today. I like the progress our team has made through three practices but our young guys need to keep getting lots of work."
The team went 23 periods that included individual work, board drills, half line, pass scale rush and offense vs defense.
The Blue Raiders will return to the practice field on Thursday and again Saturday morning.
