MT cruises to 4-1 win over UAB

Raiders to face winner of DePaul vs. South Alabama on Sunday

NASHVILLE - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team downed UAB, 4-1, in the second day of the Middle Tennessee Shootout at Nashboro Village. In the win, the Blue Raiders improve to 7-11 on the spring.

The Blue Raiders took the doubles point with wins in the two completed matches. The 57th-ranked pair of sophomores Victor Cornea and David Fox won 6-2 at No. 1, while junior Yannick Born and freshman Aaron Jumonville took a 6-2 decision at No. 2.

Cornea and Fox both won their singles matches in straight sets, with Cornea capturing a point at No. 2 (6-4, 6-1) and Fox at No. 3 (6-3, 6-1). Junior Victor Hoang clinched the match for the Blue Raiders with a victory at No. 4 (2-6, 6-4, 6-0).

The Blue Raiders return to action in the championship match of the Middle Tennessee Shootout tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Buck Bouldin Tennis Center, facing the winner of South Alabama vs. DePaul.
