Golden, Hammond take first place in the triple jump

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - India Hammond and Cordairo Golden captured the women's and men's triple jump crowns to highlight the performances of the the Middle Tennessee track & field teams on the first day of the Tiger Track Classic in Auburn, Ala.
Hammond made a leap of 12.44-meters on her final attempt, her second best distance of the outdoor season. Pershawna Williams placed fourth in the triple jump and set a new personal-best distance of 11.92-meters. Williams' previous-best mark of 11.86-meters was set April 27, 2013 at the Coach "O" Invitational.
Golden and Okot each surpassed 15 meters with Golden winning the event with a distance of 15.76-meters. Golden fell just short of his personal-best mark of 15.77-meters, which he set at the Yellow Jacket Invitational March 30, 2013. Okot jumped a personal-best 15.01-meters for fourth place.
Middle Tennessee continues competition at the Tiger Track Classic tomorrow. The women's long jump starts the field events at 11:30 a.m., while the women's 4x100-meter relay starts the track events at noon.
