SKILLMAN, N.J. - Middle Tennessee men's tennis junior Ettore Zito's elevated play and performance at No. 1 singles in his spring campaign have catapulted him into this week's ITA singles rankings, as announced Tuesday by the ITA.

The native of Sicily is ranked No. 123 in the nation in the April 8 singles rankings, posting an 11-6 record in singles play. Zito has played at No. 1 singles in 14 of his 17 matches, and has three wins over ranked opponents.

"Ettore has been working hard both on and off the court the past few years, and this ranking represents his hard work," head men's tennis coach Jimmy Borendame said. "During summer and winter breaks, I always know that Ettore is working on his game or fitness. He also excels in the classroom. I am very proud of Ettore for achieving this ranking. I think he can keep getting better in areas and I anticipate him being a top-50 player in the nation next season as a senior."

Zito is the third different Blue Raider to appear in ITA rankings this spring. Sophomore David Fox has been ranked in both singles and doubles play this spring, with fellow sophomore Victor Cornea ranked alongside Fox in the doubles rankings earlier in the spring.

The Blue Raiders close out the regular season with a pair of home matches this weekend, hosting USF Friday at 2 p.m. and UCF Sunday at 10 a.m.
