MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee softball team (7-33, 2-12 C-USA) treks to El Paso, Texas, for a three-game Conference USA series against UTEP (12-27, 4-8 C-USA) April 12-13. The Blue Raiders and Miners are slated for a doubleheader Saturday with the first contest scheduled for a 3 p.m. (CST) start, and Sunday features a solo game with a 1 p.m. (CST) first pitch.

This weekend's meeting is the first time in school history that the Miners and Blue Raiders have clashed. Middle Tennessee last played Wednesday April 9, dropping a shortened contest 8-0 to Austin Peay. Four Blue Raiders collected a hit in the game, but ultimately two-large innings by APSU doomed Middle Tennessee.

Laura Dukes continues to lead the offensive efforts for Middle Tennessee, tallying a .383 batting average with a team-high 15 doubles and 28 walks. Kayla Toney is second on the team with a .333 average and has a team-high 29 RBI, seven home runs and 44 hits.

In 10 road contests this season, MT is led by Nina Dever, who has accrued a .394 batting average with a team-best four doubles. Toney is one of two Blue Raiders that average a .300 average or higher on the road. She has a .375 average, while freshman Austyn Whaley has a .333 average.

The UTEP Miners have a 12-27 record on the season and are 4-8 in C-USA. When the Miners play in El Paso, they boast a 7-5 record but they are currently on a 10-game losing streak that started March 21 against North Texas.

Erika Arcuri leads UTEP with a .376 batting average, having a team-best 47 hits with only six strikeouts. Four more Miners hit .300 or better with the team tallying a .292 average. Ashley Eldridge (.333), Tahla Wade (.314), Collen Hohman (.310) and Miraya Montiel (.309) boast the next highest averages with Eldridge leading the team with 16 doubles and 27 RBI.

In the circle, Danielle Pearson has a team-high five wins (5-10), while Hohman has contributed a 3-6 record. Pearson has tossed 97.2 innings and has a 5.88 ERA. Hohman has notched four complete games with 65.2 innings pitched with a 5.97 ERA.
