Women's Tennis plays FAU in C-USA First Round

First serve set for 1 p.m. on Wednesday in Norfolk

The No. 9-seed Middle Tennessee women's tennis team opens the Conference USA Championship First Round with a rematch against No. 16-seed Florida Atlantic on Wednesday. First serve is set for 1 p.m. CT at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on the campus of Old Dominion University.

The Blue Raiders (10-9, 3-1 C-USA) won the March 14 match against FAU (10-10, 0-3 C-USA) 5-2 in Boca Raton. Junior Tiffany William recorded a team-best 15-4 record in singles action during the spring. Meanwhile, Nayara Moraes has a 22-9 record and is looking for her 66th career win on Wednesday. Moraes is 11-3 at No. 3 singles. 

FAU is led by Kandis Legall with a 12-6 record in No. 1 singles. Bianca Biglione is the other Owl with a winning record, boasting a 13-5 record during the dual season.

"We are excited to be playing in our first Conference USA Championship," said head coach Shelley Godwin. "We have prepared well and feel like we are in a position to have a successful tournament."

The winner of the MT-FAU match will take play No. 8-seed UTSA on Thursday at 1 p.m. CT. Results of Wednesday's contest will be available at GoBlueRaiders.com.
