CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Chattanooga (25-17) used a continuous offensive output to beat Middle Tennessee (7-38), 9-3, Friday at the Jim Frost Stadium.

Middle Tennessee was led offensively by Laura Dukes, who finished 1-for-3 with a two-run home run. LaRi Mitchell continued her hitting streak, advancing her total to 14-straight games and was the only Blue Raider to finish with multiple hits (2-for-3). Samantha Nieves notched a RBI on a fielder's choice in the seventh.

Caitlin McClure (2-11) pitched the first three innings, while allowing six runs with four earned and one strikeout. Senior Jordyn Fisherback tossed in relief and surrendered three runs with only one earned. Fisherback pitched her way out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth and also tallied her lone strikeout in the inning.

To start the contest, Middle Tennessee jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage after a leadoff hit by Mitchell and an arcing homer over the left field fence by Dukes. Dukes home run was her fourth of the season and her second in as many games, tallying a home run previously against WKU April 16.

UTC responded by scoring runs in the next four innings. A leadoff homer by UTC's Sarah Beth Roberts helped narrow the gap 2-1. In the second inning, Roberts netted a two-run blast to left field for the 3-2 advantage. The Lady Mocs then scored two runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth inning.

Each side went scoreless in the fifth before UTC added one more run in the sixth. After pushing the score to 9-2, Middle Tennessee had its best chance to extend the game in the seventh. After infield singles by Marinna Shadley, McKena Miller and Mitchell, the bases were loaded with Nieves to the plate. Nieves ground in to a fielder's choice, plating MT's third run of the game.

Middle Tennessee and Chattanooga conclude the two-game set tomorrow at noon (EST).
