GULF SHORES, Ala. - The Middle Tennessee women's golf team took home third-place honors in the program's first Conference USA Championship appearance Wednesday in record-setting fashion at the par-72, 6,145-yard Peninsula Golf Club course.

Middle Tennessee finished third with a program-best three-round tournament score of 879 (294-297-288). The previous record was 880 set at the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Championship. The Blue Raiders jumped from fifth after the second set of 18 holes to third Wednesday, turning in a third round mark of 288. MT's third round score marked a school record for third rounds and tied for third on the program's all-time best round list.

No. 34 Tulane took home top honors, shooting 856 (281-291-284), while UTSA claimed second-place at 866 (286-292-288). Old Dominion (297-291-293) and FIU (295-295-291) tied for fourth, each carding 881.

"We played pretty solid today and had it going early," said MT head coach Chris Adams. "We gave a few back on the back nine, but finished pretty good with a couple of other birdies. We made a lot of birdies that got us some momentum, but we just couldn't catch the leaders. It was a pretty good showing for our first go around in Conference USA and I am proud of this team for putting together three of the best rounds ever."

MT sophomore Avery George and junior Allie Knight paced the Raiders in the final round, each shooting 71 for one-under par. George finished the tournament tied for ninth in the 65-player field, tallying 218 (75-72-71). Knight carded 219 (73-75-71) to finish tied for 12th and marking her season-best three-round score. Her third-round score of 71 marked a career-best round for Knight.

Redshirt-sophomore Emily Miller and sophomore Maddie Denton each posted a final round score of 73 for Middle Tennessee Wednesday to match both of their career-best rounds. Miller totaled 220 (73-74-73) to finish tied for 16th, while Denton recorded a final score of 224 (73-78-73) to finish tied for 25th.

MT sophomore Emily Williams closed out the C-USA Championship with her lowest round of the three-day event, turning in a 74. She finished with a score of 226, tying for 31st.
