MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee (10-45, 2-21 C-USA) concluded the 2014 season with a 5-0 loss to Florida Atlantic (33-21, 15-9 C-USA) at the Blue Raider Softball Field Sunday.

MT honored its four seniors - Nina Dever, Shelby Stinnett, Jordyn Fisherback and Kayla Toney - prior to the start of today's game. The group registered a combined 474 starts over their four-year careers and helped usher in the Jeff Breeden era to Middle Tennessee.

Stinnett (4-19) earned the start for the Blue Raiders, pitching the first three and one-third innings. She allowed a two-run home run in each of the first two innings to give FAU the 4-0 advantage early. Stinnett tossed a scoreless third and faced one batter in the fourth before Caitlin McClure entered to pitch. McClure tossed the final three and two-thirds innings, while allowing only one earned run in the seventh.

Kayla Toney finished 2-for-3, tallying her 38th multiple-hit game of her career. LaRi Mitchell (1-for-4), Samantha Nieves (1-for-2), Marinna Shadley (1-for-2) and Lauren Riddell (1-for-3) each notched a hit in the loss.

Middle Tennessee had its best chances to score in the first and fifth innings, stranding two runners on base in each inning. MT left a total of seven runners on base, while FAU only left three. The Owls also notched seven hits to the Blue Raiders' six.

MT concluded the season with the loss to FAU, while the Owls will play and host the C-USA Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla., May 8-10.
