IRVING, Texas - Middle Tennessee senior left-hander Zac Curtis earned Conference USA Pitcher of the Week honors for the third time this season, as announced by the conference office Monday. Curtis shares this week's award with UAB's Chase Mallard.

Curtis tossed his fifth complete game of 2014 Friday night at FIU, twirling a two-hit shutout to open up what would eventually be a series win on the road for the Blue Raiders. He did not allow a hit after the fourth inning, and struck out eight in the contest to improve his season total to 118, which leads the nation.

For the year, Curtis is 7-3 with a team-best 1.81 ERA. The Blue Raiders are 10-3 in Curtis' 13 starts. Middle Tennessee plays a midweek game at Belmont Tuesday night before hosting Marshall in a pivotal Conference USA series Thursday through Saturday at Reese Smith, Jr. Field.
