Raiders in 11th after first round

Patterson tied for 12th at even par

COLUMBIA, MO - Middle Tennessee turned in a 301 on the first day of the NCAA Regionals at Columbia to stand in 11th place. The 14-team event is being played at The Club at Old Hawthorne (par 72, 7,141 yards) and is the Raiders' sixth appearance in the last seven years.

The low five teams and the top individual not on those teams will advance to the NCAA National Championships at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan., May 23 - 28.

No. 2 Oklahoma State shot a sizzling 272 and stands at 16-under par to lead the field. Host Missouri is second followed by No. 11 Virginia, Arkansas and LSU.

The Blue Raiders started the round on hole 10 and proceeded to play the back nine at 1-under par. Trouble started on the front side with a couple of tough holes that were hard to overcome.

Junior Brett Patterson led the Blue Raiders with an even par 72 that included three birdies. Patterson is tied for 12th in the 75-man field.

Jordan Jennings had the best NCAA Regional round of his career with a solid 74. Jennings, who had two birdies, is tied for 30th.

Andrew Cho, who led the team with four birdies, carded a 75 and is tied for 40th.

Lucas Armstrong recorded an 80 and is tied for 68th while Payne Denman registered an 84.

The Blue Raiders will begin second round action Friday morning at 8:50 AM.
