Blue Raider Softball Field gaining indoor batting cages
Completion estimated for July 1stMay 19, 2014 · @MTAthletics
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - A much anticipated enhancement to the Blue Raider Softball Field is underway as the program will be getting a new indoor batting facility. The new facility, which will feature two batting cages, is scheduled to be completed July 1.
A construction crew started the facility improvement by removing cages around the bullpen, taking down the batting cage nets and removing two storage buildings that stood behind the left field fence. Once this part is complete, the new batting cages will be housed where the home bullpen was previously located, and the new bullpen will be moved next to the left outfield fence. The building will be an all metal facility with two batting cages and a storage unit in the back.
"The new indoor batting cages will gives us some flexibility and will be a great addition to the Blue Raider Softball Field," said head coach Jeff Breeden. "The cages will help alleviate scheduling the auxiliary gym inside the Murphy Center when dealing with inclement weather, classes and other teams needing to use the facility during the season."
