MT Men's Tennis recognized by ITA for academics

Blue Raiders earn team and three individual awards

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis squad was recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for its academic excellence in 2014.

This marked the fourth-consecutive year the team earned ITA's All-Academic Team recognition.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).

Dimitri Pippos, Ben Davis and Yannick Born received individual honors as ITA Scholar Athletes.

"These awards show that our team is focused on excellence both on and off the court," Head Coach Jimmy Borendame said. "Congrats to these guys on their hard work!"

During the four-straight years in which the Blue Raiders garnered ten individual accolades with Yannick Born and Dimitri Pippos picking up ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades twice in their careers.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters.
