Lady Raiders Second in Silver Bracket at FSU Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Middle Tennessee (10-9) softball placed second in the Silver Bracket of the FSU Invitational with a 6-0 loss to Auburn (17-9) on Sunday.

Auburn scored one run in the first when an error sent Kari Williams home. The Lady Tigers sent one more runner across in the sixth and got four runs on two homeruns in the top of the seventh.

Hurler Jennifer Martinez falls to 9-3 as she went four innings striking out three. Junior Stayc Preator pitched the final three innings.

Martinez threw a three hit shutout and 12 strikeouts to help lead the Lady Raiders to a 2-0 win over Southeastern Louisiana in the semifinals of the Silver Bracket. Middle Tennessee scored its runs in the top of the third as a sacarafice fly by Martinez sent Lisa Sherman home and then short stop Steffi Silva scored on a wild pitch.

Middle Tennessee will host its second home series of the year when Western Illinois comes to Lady Raider Field on Tuesday. The first pitch is set for 4 p.m.
