MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee women's 4x400m relay team set a school record in winning with a time of 3:40.80 in the final day of competition in the Alabama Relays in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The relay squad broke the previous mark of 3:42.25 set in 1996.
Also for the Lady Raiders, Stephany Reid and Letitia Eady finished fourth and sixth, respectively, in the triple jump. Reid jumped a season-best 41-8, just two inches shy of her personal best, and Eady cleared 40-6.75. Former Lady Raider Andreja Ribac won the triple jump with a mark of 44-4.75.
Kelley Smith placed fifth in the javelin with a mark of 117-4 in her first competition of the season. The women's 4x200m relay came in fourth, finishing in 1:38.31.
For the Blue Raiders, sophomore Chris Koger finished fourth in the high jump with a mark of 6-10.75, while Lindsey Sims came in eighth in the javelin with a season-best toss of 181-7.
The men's 4x100m relay was second in a time of 39.57, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships, while the 4x200m relay came in fourth in 1:24.26. The 4x400m relay squad also came in second in 3:07.74.
The Blue Raiders and Lady Raiders will both travel to the Bulldog Invitational in Starkville, Miss., on March 30 before competing in the Texas Relays April 4-6 in Austin, Texas.
