Jack Deere

Inducted: 1985
Sports: Football, Baseball

A fine end punter who was a student coach in his final year at MT, Jack Deere entered the military early in World War II. Upon returning to Middle Tennessee, he cultivated his coaching skills by working at high schools in Pulaski and Winchester, Tenn. before joining Coach, fellow Hall of Famer and former teammate Charles "Bubber" Murphy's football coaching staff in 1958. There, he coached ends and kickers. He was also MT's baseball coach in 1960 and 1961, leading the Blue Raiders to an 11-10 record. Deere was a valued confidant to Middle Tennessee coaches well after he retired from coaching, providing advice and expertise gleaned from his extensive coaching experience.
