Howard Alsup

Inducted: 2001
Sports: Football

A four-year letterman and two-time All-OVC selection as a defensive tackle, Howard Alsup earned second team Little All-American honors. His skill at holding the line together in the face of tough opposition earned him the captaincy of the Blue Raiders in 1953. He used that Blue Raider training to build a career in education as the consummate high school football coach.

During his 30 years with Metro-Davidson County, Tenn. schools, his teams netted four championships and Alsup was twice named Coach of the Year. Elected to the Metro Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1999, Alsup was honored for his leadership in the profession and his tireless dedication to mentoring three generations of athletes.
