Greg Artis

Inducted: 2001
Sports: Track and Field

A seven-time-NCAA All-American, Greg Artis' jumping ability took MT's Track and Field program to a new level in the 1970s. Nicknamed "Dr. Leap" by his teammates, his technique drew the attention of onlookers who stopped to watch as he made his way down the runway in preparation for a jump. In his senior year, Artis made a clean sweep of OVC honors, winning the individual championships in both indoor and outdoor events. He was elected OVC Indoor Trackman of the Year and Outdoor Trackman of the Year. He also was presented with the league's highest honor for a scholar-athlete in any sport - the OVC Athlete of the Year.
