Passed for a state record 48 touchdowns in 2001 in leading Ezell-Harding to the IA State Championship and a perfect 15-0 record ... In the 63-26 win over Cloudland for the state title, Shelly completed 17 of 26 passes for 312 yards and four touchdowns ... On the season he completed 192 of 316 passes for a total of 3,738 yards his senior year in engineering Ezell's no-huddle, spread offense ... In a 76-21 win over Loretto, Shelly threw a single-game state record 10 touchdown passes ...
