WE'RE BACK!
• The beginning of the 2026-27 season marks the start of the 104th season of Blue Raider basketball.
• This also marks the start of year nine under Head Coach Nick McDevitt.
• Monday morning's matchup against Fisk starts the 54th year of Blue Raider basketball inside the Murphy Center.
PRESEASON RECOGNITION
• Junior guard Jahvin Carter was the lone Blue Raider named to the Preseason All-Conference USA team.
• This marked the first conference award of Carter's career. This comes a year removed from starting in 19 games for Middle Tennessee
• The junior averaged 10.8 points per contests and led the team with 114 total assists a year ago. As the lone returning starter for Middle Tennessee, Carter tallied 20 double-figure scoring games and boasted a 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio, highlighted by numerous eight-assist performances.
PORTAL FIREPOWER
• Middle Tennessee picked up some serious firepower through the transfer portal, with five of its nine newcomers having previously played collegiately.
• Four of the five incoming transfers scored 10 or more points per game at their previous stops: Kaleb Siler (18.7), Quintero Barnett (14.6), Kevin de Kovachich (11.4) and Ofri Naveh (11.2).
• Eli Rice averaged 6.7 points per game as a Redshirt Sophomore at Penn State, with 10 double-digit scoring performances.
TALKIN' TENNESSEE
• Middle Tennessee's roster is sticking to its roots with seven natives of the Volunteer State on the team. This includes Middle Tennessee natives Braylin Davis (Nashville), Jarred Hall (Lebanon), Jax Howard (Shelbyville) and Eli Rice (Gallatin).
• Garrison White (Chattanooga), Jahvin Carter (Alcoa) and Aiden Bolden (Bolivar) also hail from the Tri-Star State.
EARPLUGS: RECOMMENDED
• The Blue Raiders season opener against Fisk will also serve as the program's annual Elementary Day, welcoming fourth and fifth graders from across Middle Tennessee.
• Last year's Elementary Day saw a high attendance, with a listed 7,813 inside the Glass House for the win over Milligan. From experience, earplugs are recommended for Elementary Day.
SCOUTING REPORT: FISK
• Based in Nashville, the Blue Raiders opening opponent of the season are led by third-year head coach Jeremiah Crutcher. Year two of the Crutcher era for the Bulldogs led to an 11-18 campaign, including going 5-7 in the HBCUAC.
• One of three non-NCAA teams on Middle Tennessee's non-conference schedule, Fisk and HBCUAC are affiliated with the NAIA.
• Crutcher brings a veteran squad into the Glass House, with seven seniors listed on the Bulldogs roster.
